Music and Drama at Vermont Primary School
Students from Foundation to Year 6 enjoy an engaging Performing Arts program encompassing music, drama and dance.
The students enjoy a well-resourced music room for each session each week with the Music Specialist Teacher. They have a plethora of instruments to experiment with and have support from outsourced music teachers to assist with music lessons.
Strong focus is given to building the students’ confidence and social skills in an engaging, supportive environment, helping them develop a lasting love for the arts.
Performing Arts Activities
- Orchestra – students and staff members who possess required musical skills rehearse weekly with frequent public performances throughout the year.
- Choir – all students practise once a week with performances during the year.
- Instrumental Music Lessons –available for all students, on a user pays basis, once a week. Lessons are offered in flute, violin, guitar, piano, vocals, ukulele, keyboard and drums.
- Rock Band - the school Rock Band is selected through an audition process. They rehearse once a week and have a number of performances throughout the year.
Music Concerts
- Each year we have a Junior (Foundation-Year 2) , Middle Years (Years 3 and 4) and Senior Years (Year 5-6) Soirees. Our various music groups perform at these events and students are given the opportunity to play solos and duets in front of an audience.
Production
- Every 2nd Year the Year 3 to 6 children are involved in the School Production. The Year 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to audition for the major cast roles.
