Physical Education and Sport at Vermont Primary School
We are very lucky at our school to have many opportunities for our students to be active, whether it be in the weekly timetabled Physical Education sessions, or in Sport sessions, or in additional opportunities, such as our Running Club held before school.
We have a range of facilities at Vermont Primary School to accommodate all types of physical activity. We have a stadium which is used for a range of sports. Some of these include Basketball, Netball, Table Tennis and Volleyball. It is also used after school by a local basketball club: Vermont Vultures. We have outdoor courts that also accommodate a range of sporting activities and these are utilised afterschool for training by a local netball club: Hi-Lites Netball Club.
In addition, we are able to access two ovals. We have a smaller oval for students to play on at recess and lunchtime, which has synthetic turf and a modified running track. Support from the Whitehorse City Council allows us to utilise the large oval at the Vermont Football and Cricket Club at lunchtimes (Yr 3 – 6 students only) and for any other special events, such as our Cross Country.
Years 3 to 6 students hold their Sport Sessions on Fridays, which is where they participate in athletics, or play games or participate in a number of sports.
