Chaplaincy Program at Vermont Primary School
Vermont Primary School has engaged a School Chaplain to support the educational, social and emotional wellbeing of our students. Our Chaplain works closely with our Wellbeing Specialist Teacher to support students, staff, families and the wider school community.
The role of a School Chaplain includes:
- working as a member of the school’s wellbeing team in delivering student wellbeing services
- contributing to improving student engagement and connectedness
- contributing to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- providing pastoral care and guidance to students
- operating within the school community and with external providers.
Pastoral care means looking after the wellbeing and personal needs of students, not just their academic needs.
Information about chaplaincy services in Victoria can be found at: https://www.vic.gov.au/national-student-wellbeing-program/engaging-chaplain-or-student-wellbeing-officer
Chaplaincy services may be provided in any of the following forms:
(a) On an individual basis (one on one discussions with a student)
(b) In a group setting (discussions with groups of students)
(c) or a combination of both (a) and (b)
To access the Chaplaincy program, schools must obtain written Chaplaincy parent consent (DOCX) from parents or carers, before the student receives support from the Chaplain.
If you need any assistance or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
