Visual Arts at Vermont Primary School
At Vermont Primary School, Visual Arts is an exciting and important part of our curriculum. Through a wide range of creative experiences, students from Foundation to Year 6 explore, experiment, and express themselves using a variety of materials and techniques.
What Our Students Learn
Our Visual Arts program follows the Victorian Curriculum, with a strong focus on both creating and responding to art.
Students:
- Explore a wide range of art forms including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, textiles, and printmaking
- Learn about different artists, styles, and cultures – including a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art
- Develop skills in using tools, techniques, and materials safely and creatively
- Reflect on their own artwork and the work of others using visual art language
- Express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through visual storytelling
Celebrating Creativity: Art Show & Art Trail
- A highlight of our arts program is the biennial Vermont Primary School Art Show, where
every student proudly showcases a selected piece of artwork. Families and community members are invited to celebrate the creativity and achievements of our young artists.
- In alternate years, we hold our engaging Art Trail – a creative journey through the school grounds where student artwork is displayed in different locations for everyone to explore. The Art Trail encourages families to walk through the school, interact with the displays, and experience the joy of student-made art in an immersive, playful way.
- These events are a celebration of student learning, imagination, and community spirit – and they are always a favourite on the school calendar!
